Customer Care Guide

Our furniture has been designed and manufactured specifically for the Hospitality & Leisure Industry. Through good care, maintenance and sensible use we believe that our furniture will meet your needs. However the life of your furniture may be shortened if you do not undertake regular maintenance or safeguard against improper use.

Therefore in order to maximise the life of your furniture we recommend the following steps:

Tables

  • Wooden table tops are normally finished in an acid catalyst lacquer or polyurethane lacquer may provide a greater resistance to heat
  • Our lacquers meet the standards of BS6250 but no lacquer is scratch proof nor can it withstand sustained application of very hot dishes, plates etc. without some marking
  • We recommend the use of tablemats to provide greater protection for your table tops against heat and scratching
  • Wooden table tops with oiled or waxed finishes will generally need them re-applying after prolonged everyday use
  • Use a warm, damp and slightly soapy (diluted washing up liquid) cloth to clean your wooden table tops
  • Do not use any spray cleaners or wax to clean your wooden table tops. Spray cleaners or waxes build up on the surface of the table and will, in time, leave marks on the surface of the table
  • We recommend that anti-bacterial sprays are not used because they may soften lacquer over time resulting in marking and a sticky finish on the table surface
  • Granite, marble, tile or lava stone table tops should be cleaned in accordance with the manufacturers’ instructions
  • Glass table tops should be cleaned with warm soapy water and dried to avoid smearing. If the top is removable ensure that care is taken to remove the top safely
  • Laminate table tops should be cleaned in the same manner as wooden table tops
  • Take care not to use rough or sharp edged tableware that will scratch or mark table tops
  • If tables are manufactured using nuts and bolts you should regularly check and tighten if necessary
  • Do not drag tables as the joints will be weakened

Chairs, Benches, Sofas, Stools and Case Goods

  • Wooden surfaces should be cleaned in the same manner as wooden table tops
  • Upholstery (fabric and leather) should be cleaned in accordance with the fabric manufacturers’ instructions
  • Faux leather should only be cleaned using warm soapy water and then dried. Do not use chemical cleaners as these may cause hardening and cracking
  • Upholstered products may be vacuumed or brushed carefully to remove dust
  • Foam will soften over a period of time
  • Some fabrics and leathers may stretch over time, for further details contact the manufacturer prior to specification
  • Stackable chairs are generally to 4 high and a trolley is recommended for moving them
  • Leaning on the two back legs of a chair will cause stress to the frame and may lead to breakage
  • The nuts and bolts on bentwood chairs should be checked regularly and tightened if necessary
  • Do not drag chairs, benches, sofas, stools or case goods as the joints will be weakened

Outdoor Furniture

  • Wooden components of outdoor furniture should be treated with an approved timber oil at least twice during the outdoor season
  • Timbers such as oak, larch, teak and iroko will change colour over a period of time, often turning a silvery colour
  • Cushions or other items of upholstery used with outdoor furniture should not be left outside during rain or other inclement weather even if they are waterproof or have water repellent properties
  • We recommend that wooden outdoor furniture should be protected from weather during the winter
  • An approved oil should be regularly applied to metal parts that move (e.g. hinged components) to avoid rust or seizure

General

  • Ensure that wooden furniture does not suffer from extremes of heat or moisture. Extreme heat or cold will damage joints and craze lacquer
  • Industrial style furniture will undoubtedly rust, which is part and parcel of the aesthetic appeal
  • If furniture is placed in direct sunlight for a prolonged period of time the timber, plastics, coatings and fabric will generally fade, although some coatings & fabrics do have very good UV tolerance
  • Coastal salt air locations will generally cause outdoor metal parts to rust much quicker than normal, although some coatings are available to prolong the finish
  • We provide a standard 12 month warranty from the date of invoice against manufacturing faults; the warranty does not cover faults caused by the nature of usage
  • We recommend the use of chair & table glides to protect your furniture and your floors. Our Sales Office will provide further details:-
